RealTime Laboratories, Inc. normally focuses on detecting exposure to toxins and fungal pathogens, but the company has pivoted to do COVID-19 testing and assist the national backlog.
“We had capacity in the lab to take on extra work and also the machines needed to run one of the Realtime-PCR tests approved by the FDA under Emergency Use Authorization,” said RealTime CEO Dave Murcott via release. “When we saw several weeks ago that testing was going to be in such short supply, it was a pretty easy decision.”
Dallas County is waiting on equipment to grow its own testing capacity and the backlog from manufacturers was causing weeklong turnarounds for tests that usually take days. RealTime was able to secure enough supplies to be able to sustain capacity and turnaround test results in 24-48 hours.
“First and foremost, we want to be of use to the community we live and work in, so we’ve developed agreements with local health centers,” Murcott said via release. “In some cases, we’ll be the primary source for testing. In others, we’ll provide overflow capacity.”
Tests are available through physician orders, and can be set up here: 972- 492-0419, ext. 116.
