THURSDAY, JANUARY 14

Nightlife // Neighborhood Night at Dragonfly
Our budget doesn’t allow for $10-$15 cocktails. So usually we have to make one martini last all night at Dragonfly. Buzz kill. Not anymore. On Neighborhood Night, we can get beer, wine, well drinks, and appetizers for only $5 each. To top it off, there’s live music from 8–10 pm.

Nightlife // Threesome Thursdays at Geisha House
Before you get your hopes up, let us explain. At Geisha House, the word “threesome” means $3 drinks and $3 sushi specials. And, if you add DJ Avi to the mix—he’s up for the Best DJ in Dallas, BTW—that’s three really cool reasons to go here on Thursday night. 5 pm–midnight.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 15

Fashion and Beauty // F.I.G. Finale
If you didn’t get everything you wanted for Christmas—or you just can’t pass up a great deal—treat yourself to some shopping at the Fashion Industry Gallery’s semi-annual sale. You can find designer labels such as Elaine Turner, 7 for All Mankind, Paige Premium, French Connection, Hugo Boss, Rock and Republic, and True Religion at 75 percent off retail. Tickets from $12. Through Jan 16. Fri, 11 am–8 pm; Sat, 11 am–5 pm. Fashion Industry Gallery, 1807 Ross Ave. 214-748-4344.

Theater and Dance // Give It Up!
We are huge fans of movies like Bring It On—probably because we are still 16-year-olds at heart. So Give It Up! sounds like our kind of show. Based on the classic Greek comedy Lysistrata (with a contemporary twist, of course), this high-energy musical tells the story of the drama and relationships between a college basketball team and their cheerleaders. The world-premiere musical features sexual situations and suggestive dialogue, so make it a grown-up’s night out. Through Feb 14. The Wyly Theatre, 2400 Flora St. 214-880-0202.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 16

Music, Nightlife // Hunter Sullivan at The Mansion Bar
That “Sinatra guy” is headed back to the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek this weekend. Listen for songs such as “Don’t Wait For Me” and “In the Blink of an Eye,” plus some old-school favorites. Bring a date, because a sexy crooner in a sophisticated bar sure says romance to us. 9 pm.

Sports // Resolution Run
We always say that we’ll get started on our new year’s resolutions tomorrow (or the next day). But this year we are going to stick to at least one and start running. Join us for a 5K, 10K, or the 1K run/walk at the Rotary Resolution Run. Top finishers win prizes, and everyone can join in the celebration after the run. Proceeds benefit the Mary Kay Foundation and the Addison Midday Rotary Charities. $20–$40. Jan 16. Registration 7–9 am; races begin at 8:30 am. Addison Conference Centre, 15650 Addison Rd. 972-450-7037.

Food and Wine // Fondue Night at Scardello
We love fondue, because it gives us an excuse to be gluttonous without apologies (or lying about how much we’ve eaten). Plus, Scardello is a Best of Big D winner, so you know this is going to be a good night. Enjoy an amuse bouche; a three-mountain cheese fondue with salamis, bread, and fruit for dipping; green salad; locally made truffles; and a glass of sparkling wine. Beer and wine can also be purchased. $35. 8 pm. Scardello Artisan Cheese, 3511 Oak Lawn Ave. Reservations required: 214-219-1300.

Music // Super Diamond
We’re onto you. You secretly love Neil Diamond. (We peeked over your shoulder and saw it on your iTunes, friend.) However, Neil isn’t coming to Dallas anytime soon, so Super Diamond, the San Francisco-based Neil Diamond tribute band, will have to suffice. They play all of your favorites, including “Sweet Caroline,” “Forever in Blue Jeans,” and “Cherry, Cherry.” They’ve appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, so you know they’re legit. 8 pm. House of Blues, 2200 N. Lamar St. 214-978-2583.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 17

Sports, Nightlife // Cowboys vs. Vikings Watching Party at The Granada Theater
Think about it. This could be the Cowboys’ last game this season. You don’t want to watch it at home alone, do you? Throw on your Romo jersey, head to the Granada, and cheer on the Boys with hundreds of other obnoxious fans. Beer is only $3, parking is free, and there’s no cover. Reservations recommended. 11:30 am.

Nightlife, Galas and Benefits // Second Thought Theatre Benefit at Double Wide
Second Thought Theatre invites you to “get loaded” in honor of its sixth season. For only $15 (presale) or $20 (door), you get to hang out at Double Wide with the STT crew, rock out to live music, enjoy free food, and enter for a chance to win cool door prizes. Plus, all proceeds go to Second Thought Theatre. 7 pm. Click here to buy tickets.

MONDAY, JANUARY 18

Nightlife // Irish Whiskey Tasting at Idle Rich
On a chilly night, you could stay warm by putting on a coat or sitting by a crackling fire. Bor-ing. We like to stay toasty with a nice glass of whiskey. Monday we’ll be at Idle Rich for its annual Irish whiskey tasting, where we can sample Jameson 18 Year, Tullamore Dew 12 Year, and Bushmills Malt 16 Year. Maybe we should wear a tank top. $25. Cheese plate included. 7-9 pm. Reservations recommended: 214-965-9926.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 19

Theater and Dance // The Color Purple
This moving story of love and hope is as terrific on stage as it was on screen. Besides that, it has Oprah’s seal of approval, and, for the most part, that lady knows of what she speaks. We’d skip a romantic comedy to see this Grammy and Tony Award winner any day—which is saying a lot for us. Through Jan 24. Check web site for times. Music Hall at Fair Park.
