Splurge/Save/Steal: Minimalist Chairs

A pretty place to park it.

It’s been a long week, and it’s only Wednesday. You need to take a load off. So where should you park your tired derrière? How about one of these simple-shaped, chrome-legged chairs? I especially like them because they look fit for a dining room or breakfast nook, and both of those places involve eating, which is one of my favorite things. But you could easily use them behind a desk in an office, in a small corner of a living room to provide extra seating, or at a bathroom vanity. I mean, they’re chairs. Just use your imagination.

What you won’t have to use, if you don’t want to, is a lot of cash. Sure, our Splurge version, from Design Within Reach, will set you back $319 a piece. But for those on a more meager budget, the scoop-back Save chair is a mere $79 at West Elm. That still a stretch? How does $39 sound? That’s the low, low price of the Steal chair from Ikea. You could buy a set of six for your dining table for less than $250.

Then just let me know what time dinner is. I’ll bring the wine.
