The Best Mother’s Day Events in Dallas

We know you love your mom—even if you’ve procrastinated so much that you haven’t yet made plans for Mother’s Day. Never fear. Here’s a list of the best stuff to do in Dallas—from a home tour on Swiss Avenue to a concert at the Meyerson. Oh, and all the brunch goodness you can eat.

EVENTS

DIAMOND DIG AT LONE STAR PARK

The Highlights: Can’t afford to buy your mother diamonds? Bring her to Lone Star Park on Mother’s Day and let her try her hand at winning some bling. The first 500 women through the gates at Lone Star Park will have the chance to win a $2500 diamond in the Lone Star Park Mother’s Day Diamond Dig, happening on the main track following the final race. We recommend treating her to a manicure immediately following.
Price: Tickets from $5
Time: Gates at 11:30am

MOTHER’S DAY AT THE DALLAS ARBORETUM

The Arboretum boasts a 12-foot walk-through house covered in flowers; 8-foot butterfly topiary; Flower Towers covered in more than 3,000 petunias, verbena, and impatiens; and much more. Because you haven’t taken a picture with Mom since senior year of high school, take advantage of William Porter Photography, on hand to do portraits for $15. Also enjoy a live jazz trio and lunch at either the Degolyer Garden Cafe or Rosine Hall.
Price: $9.50/adults; $8 seniors; $6 children 3–12; under 3 free

Many of them are open for home tours this weekend. There are eight homes in the tour, and when you’re finished, there’s an art fair across the street from Savage Park, where over 20 local artists will be selling their wares. Live music will be offered in Savage Park, and bands like Black and Blue (a Rolling Stones cover band) and Eight Arms to Hold You (Beatles cover band) will perform.
